Parkgate 2003-2012

Looking back, I believe that my time at Parkgate was the beginning of a lifelong journey of learning and curiosity that I am only just beginning to realise.

As I pursue my Master’s degree in Logic, Computation & Methodology at Carnegie Mellon University in the US, I can see how fantastically lucky I was to have had an education that always encouraged me to think critically, ask questions and challenge myself. CMU is a world-leading institution in fields like AI, computer science and philosophy of science, and I am truly privileged to be able to participate in such a thriving intellectual community.

Pittsburgh is a fascinating place to live, with a rich cultural and industrial history that gives it a distinctive identity which its citizens are very proud of. It has definitely been an interesting time to move to the USA – I certainly miss London’s rain, tea and walks with my dog on Clapham Common – but living abroad has been a thrilling opportunity to expand my horizons. I’m so grateful to Parkgate and its wonderful teachers for the early encouragement I received to explore ideas, and the world around me.
