The Headmaster, Mr Mckinlay, genuinely cares. He is welcoming and greets the children (and parents) at school every single morning (the Principal and Deputy Head are often there, too). This informal interaction means we have a regular opportunity to connect and whenever I have raised an issue, no matter how small, Mr Mckinlay always remembers and addresses it quickly. His door is also open for longer and more formal discussions if ever needed, too.
Parkgate parentMr Mckinlay is a great headteacher – very approachable for parents and children alike. I am amazed that he knows all the children by name, greets them every morning, and even reads with them often.
Parkgate parentTo say the school punches above its weight is a huge understatement. My son is making fantastic progress and his teachers know the right balance of when to push him and when to just let him be a kid. Year on year his standardised tests are getting stronger and stronger – he started in a good position and we know he is making more progress than average year on year. Parkgate is the whole package – we have witnessed an impressive development in confidence, articulation and knowledge which grows every year. We genuinely credit Parkgate for this.

Our Nursery children have enjoyed celebrating Persian New Year this week - we are very grateful to one of our Parkgate parents for running a workshop for the children. They learnt all about Nowruz and enjoyed recreating the Haft Seen table!

Pupils from the Nursery to Prep 6 have enjoyed celebrating Languages Day today, with a range of exciting activities and quizzes! Prep 5 and 6 pupils visited our Nursery and Reception classes to teach key phrases in French, German, Swedish and Portuguese, and to share some cultural facts too. Reception children had introductory lessons in Irish and Spanish, and Prep pupils enjoyed taking part in Spanish and German activities. 24 languages are spoken by our pupils, and the whole Parkgate community has enjoyed celebrating this diverse range of languages and cultures.

Last week, Prep 6 pupils enjoyed a chocolate making workshop as part of their Events Week, to mark the end of their 11+ assessments. They learnt about the process of making chocolate from raw cocoa beans, and enjoyed tasting their creations!

Our Nursery and Reception children had fun at Mud Club last week. They particularly enjoyed digging in the mud, creating potions, exploring the ball run and even running a leaf shop in the teepee!

Pupils enjoyed celebrating Minty’s Sports Captain Charity Day yesterday, raising money for the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust - a pioneering conservation organisation, which operates the most successful orphan elephant rescue and rehabilitation programme in the world.
Pupils had fun dressing up in animal-themed clothing, as the school was transformed into Parkgate Wildlife Park! The children took part in animal-themed sporting activities, organised and run by Minty - very well done!

Last week, pupils from the Nursery to Prep 6 enjoyed celebrating British Science Week. Pupils carried out a number of exciting scientific enquiries, from creating fizz balloons to investigating musical bottles and planting seeds! Pupils also took part in the Primary Engineer Leaders Award competition, designing their own creative inventions to solve real world issues. It was wonderful to see so much enthusiasm for science and STEM-related topics! 🥼🧪🧑🔬👩🔬

Prep 6 enjoyed their final day at The Mill with an action-packed morning of Geocaching - pupils were tasked with finding sunglasses scattered around the property and providing evidence by taking a selfie wearing them! They then finished their time at The Mill by making Damper, a thick homemade bread that was created by early European settlers in Australia during the 1800s. Lots of fun was had by all, and great memories were created over the last few days.
