We were delighted to be rated Outstanding in all categories by Ofsted in 2022.
With specialist teachers, excellent pastoral care, an exciting and dynamic curriculum and enriching extra-curricular activities, we have a reputation for providing a happy and fulfilling educational environment and for equipping children for success at many of the country’s leading senior schools.
With only 160 pupils across the Nursery, Reception, Pre-Prep and Preparatory years, we take pride in getting to know every child just that little bit better.
Whether you live locally, are new to Clapham or are looking to relocate to London, we can’t wait to show you our school and nursery.
Do come and experience the special Parkgate spirit in person – you will receive a warm welcome.

The Headmaster, Mr Mckinlay, genuinely cares. He is welcoming and greets the children (and parents) at school every single morning (the Principal and Deputy Head are often there, too). This informal interaction means we have a regular opportunity to connect and whenever I have raised an issue, no matter how small, Mr Mckinlay always remembers and addresses it quickly. His door is also open for longer and more formal discussions if ever needed, too.
Parkgate parentMr Mckinlay is a great headteacher – very approachable for parents and children alike. I am amazed that he knows all the children by name, greets them every morning, and even reads with them often.
Parkgate parentTo say the school punches above its weight is a huge understatement. My son is making fantastic progress and his teachers know the right balance of when to push him and when to just let him be a kid. Year on year his standardised tests are getting stronger and stronger – he started in a good position and we know he is making more progress than average year on year. Parkgate is the whole package – we have witnessed an impressive development in confidence, articulation and knowledge which grows every year. We genuinely credit Parkgate for this.
Parkgate parentParkgate has been everything we’ve looked for in a school and more… it sets exceptionally high standards in all aspects of school life, and at the same time does so with a very natural and wonderfully supportive learning environment.

Parkgate pupils are marking Safer Internet Day with a number of activities linked to the national theme: ‘Too good to be true? Protecting yourself and others from scams online’. Games, stories and quizzes are helping children to understand the importance of online safety, and encouraging further discussion about the ways in which pupils can keep themselves safe when accessing and enjoying the internet 🛜 💻
We are also running a competition – pupils have been tasked with creating a tool (such as a poster, a video, a presentation or a game) to make everyone aware of online scams. We look forward to receiving the entries – by 24th February!

It is always great to see our former pupils, and to hear all their exciting news - about senior school, university and beyond.
We always enjoy finding out about their favourite memories of Parkgate, and hearing about the ways in which life at Parkgate helped to prepare them for the future. It’s also fantastic to see our Parkgate community keeping in touch!

Last week, Pre-Prep 2 and Prep 3 pupils enjoyed a trip to The British Museum, to bring their Humanities topics to life. Pre-Prep 2 explored ancient Egyptian artefacts, linked to their Humanities topic of ‘Ancient Egypt’. The highlights included seeing the Rosetta Stone and the ancient jewellery, sculptures and art. Prep 3 enjoyed exploring the history of the Celts and the Romans, linked to their Humanities theme of ‘Ancient Britain’. They particularly enjoyed seeing the Roman coins and jewellery, the silver ingots, a bronze goose head from a Roman ship, and a chart showing how much the soldiers got paid!

We hope you enjoy these highlights from last week’s Parents’ Assembly, featuring original audio by our Choir.
We were treated to French farce from Prep 6 in a bespoke play written by our Head of French, and we enjoyed Prep 5’s poignant exploration of the First World War in another original piece, titled ‘The Great Expedition’.
We also enjoyed fantastic musical performances by Myla and Minou and our Choir, LAMDA performances by Mason, Zac and Charlie, a Sports Update from Minty and a school update from Ines.
Thank you to all parents who were able to join us, and thank you also for all your positive comments about the impressive standard throughout, and the variety of pieces included.

The Cygnets had a wonderful experience at Clapham Fire Station last week, as part of their ‘People Who Help Us’ project. They had the opportunity to squirt the big water hose and to explore the fire engine, and the children watched with amazement when the extending ladder was in action! They also enjoyed seeing Firefighter Ollie energetically demonstrating how to descend the firefighter’s pole!
