Pre-Prep 1 pupils had a wonderful time at the Tower of London this week. They saw the ravens, marvelled at the Crown Jewels and enjoyed spotting the castle features they had been learning about during Humanities lessons.

We were delighted to hear that Prep 5 Music Scholar Zakariya has successfully auditioned to take part in the Royal Opera House’s production of ‘Hansel and Gretel’ – a fantastic achievement, congratulations! 👏👏👏
Zakariya will be in every performance from 22nd December to 9th January, and he is very much looking forward to it.

During Poetry Week, pupils took part in a poetry recital competition and a poetry writing competition. The standard was so impressive in both competitions, making it very difficult for our judges!

Last week, it was the turn of our Prep 5 and 6 netball squads to kick off their season with a series of matches against our neighbours, Eaton House.
Both our A and B squads played a number of mini matches, which were hugely competitive and played with great sportsmanship.

Pupils from the Nursery to Prep 6 are enjoying a fun-filled Maths Week this week. Activities have included creating and playing maths games, ‘dress as a mathematician’ day, a scavenger shape hunt and a House maths quiz. We have been so impressed with all the creativity and enthusiasm on display!

To celebrate National Poetry Day today, we were delighted to welcome renowned children’s poet Debra Bertulis to Parkgate House. Debra ran workshops for our Reading Council and for all classes from the Nursery to Prep 6, talking to the children about poetry, helping them to develop their poetry writing and enthusing them about writing and reading for pleasure. Debra’s poems, about family life and school, appear in many anthologies as well as on the LAMDA syllabus. A big thank you to @debrabertulis for a wonderfully inspiring National Poetry Day!

We were delighted that Philip and Pamela from the Royal Trinity Hospice were able to join our event and to speak about the ways in which the funds raised would help @royaltrinityhospice

Very well done to Rohan in Prep 3, who organised a picnic for his class and raised an impressive £1200 for the Royal Trinity Hospice 👏👏👏
Rohan had been inspired by our previous school charity events and decided to set up his own fundraising event for his class. Rohan enjoyed making sandwiches and baking chocolate chip cookies, spinach rolls, sausage rolls and a chocolate cake, for everyone to enjoy.

Pupils in Prep 3 to Prep 6 had a fantastic time on their PGL activity trip last week. They showed impressive determination on the abseiling tower and climbing wall, and fantastic teamwork during the tunnel trail and raft building. They also demonstrated excellent archery and orienteering skills and enjoyed some campfire singing! It was great to see pupils cheering on their friends and even inspiring their teachers to conquer their fears!
