Prep 6 pupils have given us all some brilliant advice about the power of self-belief and self-efficacy.
They were tasked with creating a video to explain the importance of self-efficacy and having a growth mindset in Maths. This was inspired by one of our key Parkgate Virtues, resilience, and by Miss Morgan’s favourite quote by Henry Ford: “Whether you think you can or you think you can’t, you are right!”.
Miss Loretta is looking forward to running Strictly Dancing Club this term.
To get everyone in the mood, Miss Loretta and Mr Meli showed off their dancing skills during assembly this morning, and even received a perfect 10 from one of our judges! 💃🕺🪩👏👏👏
Parkgate pupils have enjoyed a fun-filled Summer Activity Week with a wide range of action-packed sessions including skateboarding, cooking, fencing, a swimming trip, a cinema trip, summer art, and the ever-popular ‘Parkgate’s Got Talent’!
Each year, Parkgate pupils enjoy taking part in the Primary Engineer competition, in which children answer the question “If you were an engineer, what would you do?”. Many congratulations to 2026 winners Ibbi in Pre-Prep 2 and Willa in Prep 5! 👏👏👏 Ibbi and Willa have been invited to see their designs featured within the exhibition at Kingston University.
Earlier this year, Isabelle, now in Prep 3, was delighted to hear that that her ‘Magnetic Car’ design submitted for the 2025 competition had been chosen by Kingston University to be made into a prototype. With over 70,000 entries last year and only around 20 built, this is an outstanding achievement. Isabelle was invited to meet the team involved in bringing her design to life, and Prep 3 pupils enjoyed an exciting online workshop with Thales UK, to learn more about engineering, STEM subjects and their real-world applications. Very well done, Isabelle! 👏👏👏
Prep 5 pupils have taken part in the @rgs_ibg ‘Young Geographer of the Year’ competition, carrying out independent research and creating posters on the theme: ‘From Source to Sea’. This linked brilliantly to their ‘Rivers’ topic and provided a wonderful opportunity to extend their learning. Prep 5 pupils presented their work to the class, asking and answering questions about their chosen rivers. Very well done! 🌍👏👏👏
Prep 6 pupils visited The Light in Redhill last week, courtesy of one of our generous Prep 6 parents. Pupils had a fantastic time enjoying the climbing walls, bowling alleys and arcade games, as well as indulging in a delicious lunch. A big thank you to Mr and Mrs Morris for providing such a fun-filled experience to finish Prep 6’s time at Parkgate.
Prep pupils recently took their Grade 1-3 ballet exams at the Royal Academy of Dance. The children commented on how much they enjoyed the experience and how excited they felt dancing in the state of the art studios right on our doorstep in Battersea. Very well done! 👏👏👏
Austin in Prep 3 successfully auditioned for a place on the Junior Associate Programme at the Royal Ballet School. This is such a fantastic achievement, as over 1160 dancers auditioned for this prestigious programme. Many congratulations, Austin! 👏👏👏
Our Nursery and Reception children took part in a range of races and an obstacle course during their Sports Day last week. The children were able to put into practice all they had learnt during their sports lessons and we were so impressed with the enthusiasm and team spirit on display - very well done to all! 👏👏👏 A big thank you to all parents and family members who were able to join us.
Many congratulations to the Greeks for winning this year’s House Cup! 🏆👏👏👏
Merits and House Points are awarded throughout the year for teamwork, effort and achievement, and for House events such as Sports Day, the Swimming Gala and the Book Week Quiz.
When all the additions were made, it was a closely fought contest, and the Greeks beat the Aztecs by one House Point. Very well done! 👏👏👏
Prep pupils had a wonderful visit to the World Heart Beat Studios this week to record ‘The Messenger’, the moving tribute song specially written by singing legend @joan_armatrading and commissioned by cultural ambassador Nic Careem for the 1999 Tribute to Nelson Mandela, now arranged and directed by Stephen Davies. A big thank you to @niccareem for joining us for the recording and telling our pupils all about the song’s inspiring background, and to Grammy award-winning producer Robbie Nelson @worldheartbeat for working with our choir on the day – we can’t wait to hear the track!
The project builds on our 2026 whole school Curriculum Focus: ‘Exploring South Africa: From Mountains to Mandela’. We are delighted to be working with Nic on the ‘Letter to Mandela’ competition, having been kindly introduced by Ms Afzal, one of our Parkgate parents. The competition invites children to write to Nelson Mandela, sharing their vision for a better future.
Very well done to our Parkgate House Prep Choir! 🎵🎶👏👏👏
Our Nursery and Reception children have been learning about planting and growing this term. The children planted their own sunflower seeds and have been carefully tending to them. They are so excited to watch them grow and can’t wait to plant them at home!
Reception children have also been exploring ‘The Sunflowers’ by Vincent van Gogh alongside the book ‘Katie and the Sunflowers’.
A big thank you to Parkgate parent Mrs Mele, for running a wonderful Art Workshop for our Cygnets class. The children loved creating beautiful paintings and drawings linked to their learning about plants and the life cycle of a butterfly. 🌻🦋
Red carpet glamour came to Parkgate this evening for our Prep Party, as our Prep pupils walked the red carpet and starred in their very own Hollywood Walk of Fame! ⭐️🎉🎈🌟
DJ Alex kept the party going, and Harry Kane ensured that the evening ended on a high! ⚽️👏👏👏
It was lovely to hear that Jemima (Prep 4) and her family have been recognised by the charity ‘Breast Cancer Now’ for their fantastic fundraising total of £30,604! The fund was set up in memory of Jemima’s mother, Victoria, and Jemima presented a giant cheque to the charity on 17th June. The fund was created in 2022 and includes donations from family and friends. Jemima continues to raise vital funds for the charity, and she completed a sponsored Mother’s Day Fun Run around Clapham Common, raising an incredible £5370 for @breastcancernow. The charity funds world-class research, including a project which aims to find a cure for triple negative breast cancer. Very well done to Jemima, and a big thank you to all who have supported the fundraising 👏👏👏
Many congratulations to all Prep 3 and 4 pupils for their excellent results in the Primary Maths Challenge. Pupils applied a range of mathematical skills to tackle 20 problem-solving questions. Special congratulations to Gold certificate winners Gyan, Rohan and Theo, and Theo even managed to achieve full marks! Very well done! 👏👏👏
