Clubs at Parkgate House School

Art
Art Club (Reception and up) at Parkgate House is an hour of fun-filled activities. Each week the children develop and express their own ideas in a variety of projects, creating beautiful items to treasure, including: painted terracotta vases, 3D cards, Christmas tree decorations, Christmas crackers and fancy dress masks to name a few.
Little hands with big imaginations happily let the paint flow, whether it be watercolour, oil, pastel, acrylic or even fabric markers to produce work of the highest quality.

Choir
The choir is open to children in the Prep Department. It is an opportunity for them to practise their favourite songs whilst improving their voice techniques. The choir sings for the school during our parents' assemblies and has recently achieved second place in Harrods 'Young Musician of the Year Awards 2003'.

Tennis
Tennis club is offered in the summer term when the weather is fine for outdoor activities. This club is held on the courts on Clapham Common and it is open to children from Reception to Prep 6. It provides the children with a good introduction to tennis, where emphasis is on improving hand to eye co-ordination, footwork and learning to play basic forehand and backhand strokes.

Nursery Swimming
This club is run in order to allow the children to develop water confidence and work towards swimming distance badges and water skills awards. The club takes place at the Latchmere Pool in Battersea.

French
The French Club is an important time for the children as it allows them to express and develop their use of the language in a privileged environment of small, informal groups. The children are fully immersed in a French atmosphere where they can learn even more about the culture through festive days and current themes and topics.

Drama
Drama helps the children acquire and develop many skills including co-operation, confidence, conveying emotions, communication and imagination. There are many games and exercises to encourage these skills including improvisation and role-play. They use masks and props to re-enact familiar stories and have fun with the parachute. The children are able to use their imaginations to transport themselves to almost anywhere including the zoo, the moon and the jungle. The children explore character building through the portrayal of many people and animals. Drama Club is a great opportunity for the children to express themselves and lose any inhibitions in a fun and relaxed way.

Karate
The Karate Club is held at our school on a Friday afternoon from 2.30pm until 3.30pm. This club helps the children to improve co-ordination, balance, discipline and technique. The club is open for all children in the Pre-Prep and Prep departments.

Boys' and Girls' Sports
The Boys' Sports Club is held on Clapham Common on a Friday afternoon from 2.30pm until 3.30pm. The boys have an opportunity to practise their skills in cricket, rounders, football, touch rugby and athletics. This club is open to children in the Pre-Prep and Prep departments.

The girls also have their club on the Common on a Friday. The girls have lots of fun practising their netball, hockey, rounders, cricket and athletic skills. This club is open to girls in the Pre-Prep and Prep departments.
